5 Ways To Get Yourself Out of A Funk & Get Motivated

Ever feel like you're just going through the motions? This can be at work, at home, basically just life. This past week I was coming back from a few days off. I had started my transition into my new position. My house was messy and I hadn't unpacked. I had gotten away from my workout routine. I just felt very blah.

I would come home from work late, eat dinner on my couch, and then remain there for the rest of the evening watching Netflix. I couldn't find my motivation anywhere (it was probably under those piles of laundry). We all go through these lulls. If you're currently in funk and need to "un-funk" yourself, here are 5 ways to do it!

1. Make a list of things you need/want to do.
I do this on my iPhone notes app. Then what helps me the most get started and stay focused is that I plan the rest of my day out. I'll do a separate list for while I'm at work and for things at home.

2. Go for a walk.
Sometimes you just need a few minutes to yourself. Plus if it's a brisk walk you'll benefit from all those wonderful endorphins. It doesn't have to be long either. Just get up, get moving, and get out of your head.

3. Put on some BeyoncĂ©.
Try to tell me that you can put on some BeyoncĂ© jams without breaking out allllll the dance moves. It's my go-to Pandora station when I need a mood boost.

4. Take a friend to lunch.
The laughs alone will cure all. Plus by treating them to lunch you'll also feel good for doing something nice for someone else.

5. Treat 'yo self girl
Go shopping, go get a mani/pedi, get your hair done, etc. Those three things always lift my spirits. Plus when you look awesome, you usually feel awesome too!

  1. Yes to all of this. May I also add: eat a healthy meal, stretch, get sunlight, go someplace new, pick up a book you don't know anything about, send a hand written letter, journal, play with your pet, meditate or pray, wear a piece of jewelry you haven't worn in a while
